The general slogan of the symposium was 'The place of Robotics in the Construction Technologies of the 21st Century'. Its goals were to promote the modernisation of construction systems so as to bring them more in line with today's world of rapid technological innovation, and to further international exchange amongst those who attended. On the program were 112 papers from researchers in 17 different countries.
The Keynote lectures and a panel discussion by international experts were given in the plenary session on the opening day. Twenty-four technical sessions were held on the following two days, and parallel video sessions and panel exhibitions were also held.
Following the symposium, a post symposium tour was conducted exclusively for participants from overseas to visit construction sites near Tokyo. Sites visited included the Shimizu SMART building system being used at Yokohama.
Overall, the symposium was a tremendous success, and we are all looking forward to the next ISAAC in Pittsburgh, USA, being hosted by Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute.
