DATE AND LOCATION

23-25 September 2002, Washington, DC, USA

- SCOPE
This symposium is the 19th of the IAARC-sponsored symposia in the field of automation and robotics in construction industry and follows a successful series of previous annual ISARC symposia held since 1984 in various locations in the United States, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan. The 19th ISARC provides a forum for the world's leading researchers, developers, and end-users to present and discuss the latest research and development activities, how such activities are transforming the construction industry, and to explore opportunities for collaboration in these areas.

- THEMES
Participants are welcome to contribute written papers, posters, videos, and exhibits on the following topics:
  • Computer Integrated Building Processes
  • Construction Information Management Systems (Product Data Standards, VRML Data Structures, Web Interfaces)
  • Construction Process Modeling and Simulation
  • Automated Monitoring and Control of Construction Process
  • Construction Work Process Modeling and Automation
  • Applications of Automation and Robotics in Industrial, Building and Infrastructure Construction
  • Design Practices to Facilitate Construction Automation
  • Construction Metrology
  • Advanced Sensing and Imaging Technologies (LADAR, Photogrammetry, GPS, 3D Object Recognition)
  • Smart Chips and Materials in Construction (RFID, MEMs)
  • Material and Component Tracking Technologies
  • Automation of As-Is and As-Built Models
  • Field Sensor Data and Construction Process Integration Protocols (communication Protocols with Wireless Segments)
  • Tele-operable and Autonomous Robots for Construction
  • Wearable Computers and Human-Computer Interfaces
  • Control Systems for Construction Equipment (Cranes, Excavators, Bulldozers etc.)
  • e-Business for Capital Facilities
  • Supply Chain Integration
  • Life Cycle Data Management
  • Field Robotics
  • Design and Development of Construction Robots
  • Economic Assessment of Automation and Robotics Technologies
