Design for Automation - A Generic System Architecture for Civil Engineering Applications

The objective of ESPIRIT III project n. 6660 – RoadRobot – Operator Assisted Mobile Road Robot for Heavy Duty Civil Engineering Applications, is the development of a Generic Multipurpose Control Architecture which will be applied to an outdoor construction site consisting of several heavy duty platforms. One of the ARRL’s functions within the project was to create the “template” by which a real construction site may be created. This paper briefly describes the Functional Architecture, which is a description of the LOGICAL resources which are used to produce system outputs and information flows between Resources.
