Advances in computer technologies now allow for the accumulation of construction processdata in large quantities. The disadvantage of having a large number of observations is that there are problems with goodness-of-fit tests. This paper addresses the issue of the effect goodness-of-fit tests have on selecting a probability distribution function for use in construction process control, automation or in the development of simulation models of processes. In the case of a large number of observations the sum of small variations can yield goodness-of-tit results which could cause one to believe that the Probability Distribution Function docs not accurately represent the underlying population.
