This paper investigates two different project delivery systems in Taiwan and Japan, and presents a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of risk reduction of these systems in construction projects. Basically, Fault Tree Analysis is used to assess the probability of risk occurrence and to identify the importance of risk factors contributing to risk occurrence. Facilitating dual structure between Fault Tree Analysis and Reliability Graph Analysis, the comparison for the effectiveness of risk reduction between project delivery systems for stakeholders was evaluated. In the same time, the project management in Japan is discussed from the viewpoint of risk management.
