IFC of BIM Automatic Retrieving and Linking for Building Envelope Energy Efficiency Measuring - Ministry of the Interior Green Building Electronic Evaluation System in Taiwan

Abstract:

Taiwan Green Building Evaluation System was established in 1999 by the Government, that main axis was ecological, energy saving, waste reduction and health (EEWH), to enhance the effectiveness of promoting green building design in Taiwan. The Green Building Measure System (GBM) was completed by the the Ministry of the Interior, Taiwan, If the GBM and BIM can be linking, it will be able to enhance Taiwan's green building design more effective. Therefore, this study focus on: 1. assessment of GBM, including EEWH specification project and build analysis; 2. Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data automatic extraction, that the object data export into the report data, and outputting the identification composite object data; to linking GBM and IFC. The theory of this study includes EEWH, BIM and IFC. EEWH consists of five categories that includes Basic type, Community, Factory, Old Building Improvement and Accommodation. BIM is an integrated tool for building information "modeling" and "management". It can provide all phases of the construction life cycle management, which includes performance evaluation, build a portfolio and build analysis. IFC is an open data format, as the exchange and sharing of information used in construction management. IFC is an open information data, uses express language in the description of information. The research steps: First, According to EEWH daily energy saving index and GBM carried out induction and sorting out, as an automated link assessment project. Then analyzed component composition, component analysis and data report to understand the principles of BIM model operation. Second, analysis IFC information exchange standards to explore the IFC data organization structure, studying how to linking and extraction. Third, linking the GBM with IFC to evaluate the feasibility of the EEWH project automation linking. Induction the GBM for direct linking, program handling and manual identification to explore different automated solutions. The results of this study are building the GBM of BIM modeling guidelines, and completed a BIM digital building model. Conversion IFC and explored the projects that can be automated. The automated link program was builded, and evaluated the proficiency of the link between the GBM and the IFC data. The BIM automation of the GBM provide EEWH reference to improve Green Building Usability and Green Building Design.
