Information technology and information management structures are now well established at all levels within the manufacturing industry and supports the use of automated and robotic tools within the manufacturing process. Though the construction industry has adopted the elements of IT, there remains a little penetration at the site level. This paper therefore considers some of the problems associated with the introduction and use of IT on site with particular reference to the impact on site automation and robotics.
