Abstract:

Employees in the construction industry are exposed to exceptional physical burdens and accident and health risks. Extensive research projects conducted in the past or currently in progress have provided practical solutions for reducing these burdens and hazards. Shotcreting is used here as an example to demonstrate how improvements in equipment and the development of new construction processes and building material can play a crucial role in humanizing working conditions. The use of remote-controlled systems and the state of development of a robot for applying shotcrete are described.
